Here is the long awaited part 2 to our guide to making money online! In the first post we looked at selling goods and information online as one of the best ways to make money; in this post we will be looking at how blogging can make you money and we’ll also give you some tips on how to create a successful blog!
Blogging is one of the most popular internet activities online. It seems that everyone is blogging about something or other and even though the blogging market is slowly becoming saturated there is still loads of opportunity to ensure your blog becomes a success.
In order for your blog to make money you need to be able to generate traffic. This is vital to your blogs success and will dictate how you manage your blog in terms of content. Here are some tips and suggestions to help you improve your blog’s chances of making money:
1. Content is your lifeblood
Your content needs to offer your readers value. Choose topics that are relevant to your blogs concept and remember to make it as interesting as possible. A content-rich blog will generate the right traffic and also a lot of it.
2. Remember SEO (search engine optimisation)
Research the main keywords that revolve around your subject. Use the most popular keywords in the headline and remember to use as many relevant terms in the content as you can. DON’T OVERDO it though as Google penalises blogs with too many keywords. Use popular keywords & phrases up to 3 times to be safe.
3. Google Adsense
Remember to join Google Adsense. Google will automatically load relevant adverts onto your site. If your readers click the banner ads you earn a small commission on every click through.
4. Join Affiliate Programs
This is similar to Adsense but you choose which programs to join and what products you want to advertise. With affiliate programs, you only earn money once a reader clicks though and then goes on to buy or sign up to that product or service. If your blogs about golf, you’ll need to find affiliate products related to golf otherwise your conversions will be low as readers are focussing on something completely different.
5. Social Media Networks
Remember to join as many social media networks as possible. These networks can help generate loads of traffic as you are sharing your links with all your contacts – and if your blog post generates interest, those people on your social network will share it too. Word of mouth and link sharing go hand-in-hand so try and keep your blogs interesting and don’t forget to add social media sharing widgets on your blog so that it makes it easier for readers to share your links.
We will be looking at other ways to make money online in part 3, where we will focus on making money through affiliate networks.
