The United Kingdom of Connectivity

The UK takes another step in the direction of complete connectivity…

The struggles of life without wifi are very real. The ways in which the wonders of the world wide web increase our ability to navigate life are so numerous that this blog would be full before I’d listed 10% of the benefits. Over the coming months, over 1000 public buildings across the UK are to be transformed into hubs of online activity, as they become free Wi-Fi hotspots.

Considering that at the end of 2013, there were more mobile devices than people on planet Earth, this planned expansion of wireless Internet coverage comes as a welcome prospect to the connected community at large. The ability to connect to the Internet at the local library, your gym, public museums, transport hubs, and a variety of other UK spaces will not only allow, but actively encourage people to converse about and interact with the UK infrastructure.

Let’s look at how Wi-Fi stole Britain’s heart…

The ability for millions of extra people to take advantage of free Wi-Fi will really put the ‘United’ in The United Kingdom, with the increased connectability levels expecting to make the UK a greater place to work, live and operate within as we head forward into the digital boom.

A Government funded project, the plan is part of a £150m SuperConnected Cities programme, which is set to transform the digital landscape as we know it. By increasing areas of free wireless connection, the revenue generated from online spending should sky-rocket.

Make sure your website is ready to be part of SuperConnected Cities with UK2.
