How To Set Up A VPN In Windows 8 LT2P


The following steps will help you setup your VPN in Windows 8.

  • Click the Desktop Tile

  • Hover over the bottom right corner and drag the mouse up until the sidebar comes up. Click on Settings.

  • Click Control Panel

  • Click Network and Internet

  • Click Network and Sharing Center
  • Click Set up a new connection or network

  • Select Connect to a workplace then click Next
  • Click Use my Internet connection (VPN)
  • Enter your VPN address in “Internet address then click Create
  • Click Change adapter settings
  • Right Click VPN Connection and click Properties
  • Click the Security tab

  • Change the following settings:

      1. Type of VPN: Layer 2 Tunneling Protocol with IPsec (L2TP/IPSec)

      2. Allow these Protocols: Radio button selected

      3. Challenge Handshake Authentication Protocol (CHAP): Checked

      4. Microsoft CHAP Version 2 (MS-CHAP v2): Checked

  • Click Advanced Settings
  • Enter Preshare key under “Key”
  • Click OK then click Ok once again.
  • Click Start this Connection

  • Click VPN Connection on right sidebar
  • Click Connect

  • Enter username and password and click OK

  • Your VPN will then connect

  • You have successfully setup your VPN on Windows 8
