How to set up an email account within Mozilla Thunderbird

Overview: 

  

This guide is designed to assist you configure the mail client Thunderbird to access an email address. A mail client lets you access your email account from an app on your computer or mobile device, examples of this are Apple mail, Outlook and Mozilla Thunderbird. 

  

This article will detail how to use the e-mail accounts that you have set up with Mozilla Thunderbird. 

  

**All pictures are for reference only. The actual layout of your interface may differ from the images below** 

  

Step 1: Once the application is opened select Email as can be seen from the image below. 

Step 2: You will then need to fill in your Name, Email address and Password and then select the Configure manually button. 


Step 3: You will then need to select your email Protocol, we would advise that you use IMAP. You will then need to enter the server details. If you are not using SSL please ensure that the SSL section for incoming and outgoing are set to none. In regard to Authentication please use Normal password.  

  

Once the server details have been entered please select Done and this will complete the account setup.
