The following steps will help you set up your email account in Apple Mail.

Step 1: Open the “Mail” app. 

Step 2: In the toolbar click “Mail” and then “Add Account”.

Step 3: Click “Add Other Mail Account…” and then “Continue”.


Step 4: Enter your name, email and password in the spaces allotted.

Under “Account Type” select “IMAP” or “POP”, depending on your preference.

Enter the following Incoming Mail Server Info:

User Name: Your full email address

Mail Server:

Password: The password associated with this email account.

Click “Next”.

Step 5: Change the Port number to the following according to your settings:

POP3 without SSL: 110

POP3 with SSL: 995

IMAP without SSL: 143

IMAP with SSL: 993

Click “Next”.

Step 6: Enter the Following Outgoing Mail Server information:

SMTP Server:

Username: Full email address (***This field is required***)

Password: Your email password (***This field is required***)

Click “Create”.

If you have any problems receiving email and have selected IMAP as your account type, IMAP may not be enabled. Please send a support ticket requesting IMAP to be enabled on your account.

If you have any problems sending email, check the following settings:

 1. Open “Mail” 

In the Toolbar, Click “Mail” and then “Preferences”.

Click the “Accounts” tab.

2. Select the email account on the left.

Under “Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP)” click the dropdown menu and select “Edit SMTP Server List”.

Select the correct server in the top of the menu. The Server Name will most likely be

Click the “Advanced” tab.

3. Verify the port number with the information below:

With SSL: 465

Without SSL: 587, 8025

4. Verify that the  Authentication section has “Password” and the following information filled out:

User Name: Your full email address (***This is required***)

Password: The email password associated with that account. (***This is required***)

Apple also has many articles for how to set up your email client. The default email settings may also be useful for you if you would like to confirm the settings to use for your account.
