You can use any FTP client you are comfortable with to upload your files to your web hosting account. There may be a bit of configuration that you need to do in order to get things uploaded to your UK2 account from iWeb.

The general steps UK2 is aware of are as follows:

  • Ensure that you have the FTP server hostname or address for your UK2 account — this is usually yourdomain.com
  • You will need your cPanel/FTP user name and password in order to connect via FTP
  • You need to be aware of the path to the folder that contains your website files. For your primary domain this will be “/public_html” minus the quotes
  • Then select your site in iWeb and under “Site Publishing Settings” select “FTP Server”
  • Select the option to publish to an FTP server and provide a Site Name and your contact e-mail address
  • For the “Server Address” enter your hostname from Step #1
  • Enter your user name and password from Step #2
  • Enter the directory/path for your site files from Step #3
  • Set the protocol to FTP and the port number to 21
  • Select Test Connection and if it works you will be able to upload your website files, images and other content!

If your site does not appear in a browser, it is likely that you entered the directory/path incorrectly and your website files were uploaded to the wrong place. You can check to be sure your site is using the correct path through cPanel >> File Manager or your own FTP Client. If you have any trouble uploading your website, you may consider downloading the FileZilla client to upload your website files to your web hosting account.
