How to publish your site

How to publish your site

Until you publish, only you can see your website. Publishing puts it online so anyone can visit it.

Good to know: On the free trial you can build and preview as much as you like, but you’ll need a paid plan to publish. When you click Publish on the trial, you’ll be taken to choose a plan. When your trial ends, you’ll need a paid plan to carry on working on your website, but don’t worry: we keep a copy of it, so you can pick up where you left off.

Before you publish

A quick check now saves fixing things later:

  • Swap any example text for your real details. The builder may have added sample reviews or a placeholder phone number. Its summary in the chat tells you what to replace.

  • Check how it looks on a phone. Click the screen icon above the preview and choose Mobile.

  • Run a security check. Your first one on each website is free. See [Security checks].

  • Check how you’ll appear in Google. See [SEO and visitor stats].

Publish your website

1. Click Publish

You’ll find it in the top-right corner. Don’t worry, this doesn’t publish straight away. It opens a panel first.

2. Check the details

The publish panel

The publish panel

  • Website URL: the web address your website starts with, ending in .uk2sites.com. You can connect your own domain later.

  • Access: who can see your website. Anyone with the link means it’s public. You can also choose Password protected if you only want certain people to see it.

  • Checks: a quick look at security and whether your website’s data is set up. Click it to see more.

3. Click Publish

Click the Publish button at the bottom of the panel. Your website is now live.

After you publish
  • A green dot on the Publish button shows your website is live.

  • Visitor stats and the full SEO check now work. See [SEO and visitor stats].

Making changes to a live website

You can keep making changes in the builder as normal. Visitors won’t see them until you click Publish again.

Using your own domain

Your website starts with a web address ending in .uk2sites.com. To use your own domain, like yourbusiness.co.uk:

  1. Click the cog to open Settings.

  1. Click the Domains tab.

  1. Click Add domain. This takes you to your Control Panel to connect it.

The “Made with AI” badge

You can choose whether your published website shows a small “Made with AI in UK2” badge. Go to Settings and choose Show badge or Hide badge.
